"Leaked" Episodes
The way I envision the story of Neon Hero is rather episodic, with occasional arcs and plotlines stretching across multiple "episodes" or "seasons". This is most likely because the main inspirations for this were Television Shows and Comicbooks. As such, a lot of my ideas can be read like an episode guide, and that's exactly what this is! It's in a rough chronological order, but expect changes and new editions every now and then. Note: these episodes are not real, it's merely a joke. A jest, even.
The Neon Hero
Villain: Various Scientists
Dragonfly has her first real mission when large amounts of chemicals are stolen. Delving into a hidden laboratory, she discovers illegal experiments…and a strange occupant that she accidentally unleashed…
(Author notes: ‘Pilot’, introduces Dragonfly and Clay)
How To Care For Your Goo
Villain: Snake Eye Goons
Dragonfly, with her new partner Clay, take to the city streets to see how well they work together as a team. In addition, Dragonfly makes some concerning observations about her new partner. They have a lot to learn.
(Author notes: setting up dynamics and how they are as characters)
The Scarecrow Stalks at Midnight
Villain: Hayday
Dragonfly faces her first assassin in the strange villain Hayday, who has been hired to kill her. Can she survive? And is he really up to the task?
(Author notes: introduces Hayday)
Little Plant Shop of Horrors
Villain: Drosera
The old flower shop owner near Olivia’s yoga studio has seemingly retired, and a new owner has seemingly taken over, a beautiful young woman. Urged by her friends, Olivia tries asking her out on a date. But when she starts her patrols, she realizes the old owner is actually missing, and there may be more to this young woman than meets the eye.
(Author Notes: introduces Olivia's friends)
To the Winner Goes the Spoils
Villain: Sasu
A robot combat tournament goes wrong when one of the robots is too good and gains partial sentience. Now on a warpath with the programmed desire to “win”, Dragonfly and Clay must stop it before he destroys everything in its path.
Two Wrongs Make a Right (In this Specific Circumstance)
Villain: Snake Eyes Goons, arguably Hayday
Dragonfly hears of a museum heist that Snake Eyes is planning, and decided to steal the Dragon Eye Ruby before they can. In addition, she decides to really test Hayday…
(Author Notes: this is just my short story lol)
Performance Enchanting Bug
Villain: Water Beetle
A high school football coach, disgruntled and disgusted with his weakening age, breaks into a science lab to steal a prototype super suit modeled after a water beetle. Giving him enhanced strength, Dragonfly and Clay must find a way to defeat him without getting too close.
Fire Ants and Water
Villain: Ant Queen, arguably Hayday
Hayday is hired by notorious Mob Leader, Ant Queen, who's smuggling fake jewelry and gems in order to take the real ones. Dragonfly and Clay go to stop her, which leads to an awkward confrontation with Hayday. Not wanting to take her chances, Ant Queen tries to get all three of them killed.
Watched Like a Hawk
Villain: Nighthawk
A new villain has appeared in the night sky, proclaiming himself as the city’s TRUE protector, and ready to finally defeat Dragonfly. Unfortunately, he was referring to the previous Dragonfly, who is dead. Undeterred, he quickly creates a backup plan; kill the current Dragonfly.
Bitten by the Lovebug
Villain: Lovebug
A young man laments his lack of romantic partners and curses out females for being so cruel and whatnot. Opening his new anime merch, he discovers a strange item that allows him to turn into Lovebug, an insect themed villain with pheromones that can change people's emotions and feelings.
A Night Out
Villain: Technically none. Arguably Hayday.
Still unsure of Hayday’s real intentions, but determined to see the good in him, Dragonfly enlists him for assistance on ‘A big threat’ she’ll need help with. In reality, she takes him on patrols with her and Clay, much to Clay’s annoyance.
Power Outage
Villain: Snake Eyes Goons
A Power Outage renders the city dark, and renders Dragonfly without her tech. She’ll need to rely on Clay to protect the panicked civilians and herself.
(Author Notes: Bits about her dad in this one. Hayday could be inserted as a minor role)
Mirror Mirror
Villain: Damselfly
A young woman, envious of the attention Dragonfly gets, tries to proclaim herself as Damselfly, the Luminous Hero. When Dragonfly rightfully shuts her down for getting in the way of actually saving people, things get ugly.
Father’s Day
Villain: Technically none, random thugs
(Author Note: Needs Work. Obvious from the title, but about Dragonfly's father.)Solo Patrol
Villain: Technically none, Maybe Drosera
With Olivia sick with the flu, Clay takes up patrol by himself.
(Author Note: Needs work)
Hail to the King
Villain: Cicada King
Olivia’s father warns her about the upcoming cicada brood, and how a terrible threat will rise with them; The Cicada King, who wishes to extinguish all other life on earth save for insects. While Dragonfly confronts the monarch, Clay gets into a spat with Reporter Louise Holly, who has a serious grudge against dragonfly.
Valentine’s Day
Villain: Lovebug
Lovebug returns, enraged at the very notion of Valentine's day and the females that deny him dates. This time, he wants Dragonfly as his date and pursues her. Things take a turn when he accidentally hits Hayday instead.
(Note: I did a little comic with this)
Not a Date (Technically)
Villain: Water Beetle
After enlisting Hayday for assistance fighting Water Beetle, Dragonfly and Clay lose the gift card they planned to pay him with. Not wanting to go back on her deal, Dragonfly drags Hayday to a local restaurant for a bite to eat. It's very awkward, especially when Water Beetle breaks down the door for round 2.
(Author Note: Kind of a thematic sequel to Valentine's Day)
For Hire
Villain: Drosera, Sasu, Lovebug, Damselfly, Arguably Hayday, but Mostly Nighthawk
Nighthawk hires a group of villains to help him take down Dragonfly and Clay, unbeknownst to them, Nighthawk plans on eliminating them immediately after the job. Hayday is only there for the money and plans to ditch them all immediately.
(Author Note: Needs work lol)
Animal Impulses (Part 1)
Villain: Ex-Professor Rivers
Disgraced from the university he previously worked at for misconduct, Ex-Professor Rivers turns the university and the entire city into animals. Clay, being immune, is frozen and captured. Dragonfly, now a dove (upset that she isn’t an actual dragonfly) and Hayday, a coyote, need to work together to reach Rivers to stop this.
Animal Impulses (Part 2)
Villain: Ex-Professor Rivers, Arguably Hayday
Having escaped, Rivers lures Hayday to his lab and turns Hayday into a Chimera Monster that he has loose control over, set on destroying the zoo and freeing the animals inside. Chimera-Hayday is clearly dying from the experiment, so Dragonfly and Clay need to race against the clock to stop Rivers and save Hayday.
It’s a Good Day
Villain: Moira Morpho
Usually kept asleep by her parents, five year old Moira Morpho is a powerful reality warper who can change anything she wishes while awake. Her parents were delayed one afternoon, thus allowing her to awaken and start changing the city into her playground. In an attempt to stop her, Moira turns Dragonfly into a plushie, leaving Clay on his own.
(Author Note: Technically Hayday could be inserted here, but would be super minor role)
Fair’s Fair
Villain: Catfish, Arguably Hayday
With a small fair on the boardwalks, Dragonfly and Clay really want to take in the sights and relax. This is difficult to do with Hayday skulking about and a strange mutant who can copy voices perfectly.
Hayday
Villain: Technically None
A day following Cornelius ‘Lee’ Hayes, who is a cashier at a small supermarket by day, but Hayday by night.
(Author Note: Thematically would be very similar to ‘Pilot’ with Dragonfly)
