Generation 3
Generation 3 are considered some of the better games, and can also be some of the most expensive. This Generation conists of Pokémon Ruby, Pokémon Sapphire, Pokémon Emerald, Pokémon FireRed, and Pokémon LeafGreen. Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald are a trio of games focusing on the Hoenn Region, while FireRed and LeafGreen are remakes of Red and Blue (Called Green in Japan). All five of these were released for the Gameboy Advance, but can be played on the GBA Slot in certain DS systems. They feature enhanced graphics, a better battling system, and a more indepth story compared to Generations 1 and 2. While Ruby and Sapphire are (usually) moderately priced, FireRed and LeafGreen tend to be a bit more expensive. However, Emerald takes the absolute cake in terms of price, often triple the cost of Ruby and Sapphire if you're Lucky. Emerald may have been the lowest selling Pokémon game, but it's getting the last laugh.
Pokémon Ruby (x1 USA, x1 PAL, x1 JPN), Pokémon Sapphire (x2 USA, x1 JPN), Pokémon Emerald (x2 USA, x1 JPN), Pokémon FireRed (x1 USA, x1 JPN), Pokémon LeafGreen (x1 USA, x1 PAL, x1 JPN)
I've done very little, if any, hunting in Generation 3. There's no way to increase your odds at all, and the 1/8192 odds are incredibly daunting. Hunts would have to be random encounters or Soft Reset Hunts (saving in front of a Static Encounter, such as Rayquaza) and repeatedly resetting your game until you get the Shiny. And even then, Emerald has a glitch in which the RNG (Random Number Generator) is broken, making Soft Reset Hunts difficult. To make up for this, Emerald also has a way to forcibly execute your own code with the use of Glitches, which can be used for many, many things. I have considered doing this for a shiny Jirachi, but have yet to make the time for such a feat.
As such, there's none!
