Generation 9

The newest Generation as of time of writing, and it did not start out great. Currently consisting of Pokémon Scarlet, Pokémon Violet, and Pokémon Legends Z-A. Scarlet and Violet released in an extremely buggy state, so much so that it was frequently unplayable. And while yes, they sold incredibly well, they are the lowest rated Pokémon game. Numerous bug fixes have made the games stable enough, but it's hard to shake off the poor launch. I find that it chugs on my Switch even now. Scarlet and Violet are set in Paldea, aka Pokémon Spain, and with a decent enough story to boot. The new gimmick is Terastallization, which allows a Pokémon to change it's type for the duration of battle, which is quite fun to play with. The paid DLCs add even more, and they're...fine. They're fine. The scale of this game is impressive, but I can't shake the feeling that it's missing something.

Legends Z-A is the newest game as of writing. So new that I don't have it! But I know we're back in Kalos, and that Mega Evolution is back, along with more Pokémon that can do it.

Shiny Pokémon

Look I'm going to be honest. If you know what you're doing, it's stupid easy to get Shiny Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet. Stupid easy. Creating special sandwiches to boost shiny spawns and being able to see hundreds and hundreds of Pokémon is like shooting Magikarp in a barrel.
